In Arizona, the utility companies are currently offering business customers three different reward programs designed to accommodate many type of systems and technology.  These programs offer two incentives each with separate payment methods.  One is a standard rebate and the second payment is a REC credit purchase produced by your system for a term of 20 years.

Do you have a good location for your solar panels?

South angling is typically best for annual solar PV system performance.  Although mounting your solar panels facing due South is typically optimal for energy production, solar panels can also be mounted to East and West facing roofs.  Solar panels are most commonly installed on roofs, attached as awnings, ground mounted, pole mounted or integrated into buildings as vertical walls.

Do you have sufficient space available to mount the solar panels?

In Arizona the average solar system installed on a home is roughly 6-12 kW (DC). This system would be made up of 230 watt modules currently approved by osha as larger modules for residential installs are traditionally not used due to weight and fall protection.  A 6 kW system would be made up of  (26) solar panels and take up about 520 Sq Ft of space.  The size of the solar system you need will depend on the amount of solar electricity your home uses.

Does your proposed location for solar panels have full sun from 9am-3pm?

Shade can dramatically reduce the performance of a solar electric system.  It is very important to review the area to see if anything will produce shade for your solar panels:  surrounding buildings, trees, chimneys, vents, skylights, swamp coolers…
